Artist John Iwerks 9:00am Saturday October 3rd

The community of Santa Ynez is honored to have John Iwerks paint a new wooden horse to add to the outdoor art installation during the Santa Ynez Art Walk; a week-long celebration of art and community being held October 2 through October 11 in the township of Santa Ynez.  Watch John as he paints the newest horse to join the Santa Ynez herd on Saturday, October 3, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Sagunto Street.

A respected California artist, Iwerks is known for A Mighty Oak, a permanent mural at the California Nature Art Museum in Solvang, and for numerous public art installations located throughout the state. His work can be found in museums, educational institutions, visitor centers, and healthcare facilities, reflecting a distinguished career dedicated to the arts.

Iwerks also carries forward a remarkable family legacy of creativity and innovation through his grandfather, Ub Iwerks, and father, Don Iwerks, whose pioneering contributions helped shape Disney animation and filmmaking.
